Writerhelper
This is the website for my alter ego, aka, proofreader, copy editor, and resume writer. I made this blog to talk about English and to try to find clients who might be able to use my highly skilled services. Before I went to art school, proofreading and copy editing were how I made my living for many years as a freelancer. When I was fortunate enough to work in-house, I was usually a production editor--the person who was responsible for turning a manuscript into a bound book in terms of its editorial content.
The industry has changed dramatically, and with the rise in use of the Internet, there has been a rise in disuse of intelligible English. Sometimes I just want to scream when I read the typos and misspellings of various postings, so my blog is a palliative for frustration (and perhaps even a little unbridled rage). As a person who loves making books, whether professionally or as an artist, such bad grammar, spelling, and syntax are affronts for which there is no cure except education (or perhaps a sledgehammer). So that's what I'm aiming to do. Ha. We'll see how well I succeed.
