Portfolio > Drawings and Paintings

I am able to draw with nearly any media, from charcoal to pen and ink to watercolor sketches. This section will eventually contain many kinds of renderings that will show the range of my capabilities. As usual, it is my immediate surroundings and my family that shape my choice of subject matter. I have taken hundreds of photographs of the interior and exterior of the house I owned in Otis, Massachusetts, many of which have found themselves source material for etchings, drawings, and paintings. I also like to collect unusual and interesting things, as well as delve into the natural world where I lived. These drawings and paintings are made from some of my personal possessions, the photograph I took of my house with the sun splash reflection that's in "Working/Lives," and the drawing of my son from a photo his dad, David Wade Smith, took of him when he was twelve or so.

In other words, everything I make borrows from something else I made or was made by someone I was/am related to, such as my dad and my ex-husband.
