Portfolio > Works in Grids

In the study of art one is asked in many classes to make grids—grids to overlap color to show how one color mixed with or overlapped by another color gives a third color, grids to mix up various kinds of designs, grids to assemble a total image, or grids as elements of a design. The work in this section represents my favorites among the grid assignments I had, but it is also what I hope will be a precursor to works that I hope to make using the grid as a component. Needless to say, I am a great fan of Cubism, and the work of David Hockney is among that which I consider really important inspiration for the kind of work I've done and hope to do. The icon for this work is a grid in watercolor, among the finest examples I have made.
